Gap		 Overall Poll Results Pro-Life Voters Pro-Choice Voters Abortion Gap Rectangular Callout: How to Read this Chart: This chart compares the differences between "Pro-Life" voters and "Pro-Choice" voters in 28 states. For example: In SurveyUSA's most recent election poll from the state of Washington, Kerry is ahead of Bush by 7 pts among all likely voters ("overall"). A blue 7 appears in the "Overall" column, blue to signify Democrat advantage. However, in the state of Washington, if you look at just the "Pro-Life" voters, Bush leads by 65 pts. (82% of Pro-Life voters vote for Bush; 17% vote for Kerry; those results not shown on this particular sheet, but elsewhere available on SurveyUSA website.) A red 65 shows up in the Pro-Life column (red for Republican advantage). In the state of Washington, if you look at just the Pro-Choice voters, Kerry leads by 43 pts. (70% of Pro-Choice voters vote for Kerry; 27% vote for Bush.) A blue 43 shows up in the Pro-Choice column. If you add 43 and 65, you get 108, which is the size of the difference between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice voters in Washignton. A 108 shows up in the "Abortion Gap" column. Note: There is no state where Pro-Life voters vote for Kerry, and there is no state in which Pro-Choice voters vote for Bush.
