NC Democratic Primary for US Senate: Hagen 8 Points Atop Neal. In a Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate today, 01/15/08, 16 weeks to the vote, State Senator Kay Hagan leads businessman Jim Neal 37% to 29%. But: 35% of likely Democratic Primary voters are undecided and much could change. Hagan leads by 4 among white voters, leads by 14 among black voters. Hagan runs strongest in Raleigh. Neal runs strongest in Charlotte. The candidates are effectively tied in Southern NC and on the Coast. The winner of the primary would face incumbent Republican Elizabeth Dole.

Filtering: 2,100 North Carolina adults were interviewed 01/12/08 through 01/14/08. Of them, 1,815 were registered to vote. Of them, 609 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the Democratic Primary on 05/06/08.
