Analysis: In a Republican Primary for Congress held today, 6/9/06, in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District, Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin beats Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett 43% to 36%, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Denise Bode gets 7%. Kevin Calvey gets 4%. Fred Morgan gets 2%. Johnny Roy gets 1%. 6% are undecided. Fallin leads by 14 points among women and trails by 1 point among men - a 15-point gender gap. Fallin's lead comes entirely from voters age 65 and over. In other age groups the two are statistically even. The Primary is on 7/25/06. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, the top 2 finishers face a runoff on 8/22/06. Incumbent Republican Ernest Istook is leaving Congress to run for Governor this year.

Filtering: 2,000 Oklahoma adults were interviewed 6/6/06 - 6/8/06. Of them, 1,760 were registered to vote. Of them, 841 were Republicans. Of them, 409 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Republican Primary Voters.
