Republican Take-Away in MI Governor: In a hypothetical election for Governor of Michigan today, 8/8/2006, Republican Dick DeVos defeats Democrat incumbent Jennifer Granholm, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WDIV-TV Detroit and WZZM-TV Grand Rapids. DeVos gets 50% today, Granholm gets 42%. DeVos leads by 21 points among Registered male voters. Granholm leads by 4 among registered female voters, a 25-point Gender Gap. Granholm leads among voters age 65+. DeVos leads among all other age groups. 20% of registered Democrats cross over to vote for Republican DeVos; 9% of Republicans cross-over to vote for Democrat Granholm. Granholm is strongest in Wayne County; DeVos wins all other regions of the state. The election is in 13 weeks, on 11/7/2006. |
Stabenow Safe in Match-Up Against Bouchard: In a hypothetical election today, 8/8/06, for US Senator from Michigan, Democrat incumbent Debbie Stabenow defeats possible Republican opponent Mike Bouchard, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WDIV-TV Detroit and WZZM-TV Grand Rapids. Stabenow gets 48% today, Bouchard gets 41%. Libertarian Leonard Schwartz gets 8%. 3% are undecided. Bouchard leads among males by 10 points; Stabenow leads among females by 23 points, a 33-point Gender Gap. Bouchard's support is strongest in the Grand Rapids area; Stabenow leads in all other regions of the state. Moderates support Stabenow by 22 points. Schwartz gets 16% of Independents. The election is in 13 weeks, on 11/7/2006. |

Stabenow gets 52% today, Butler gets 36%. Libertarian Leonard Schwartz gets 9%. 3% are undecided. Stabenow and Butler are essentially tied among males; Stabenow leads by 32 points among females, a 34-point Gender Gap. The two candidates are tied for support in the Grand Rapids region; Stabenow leads in all other regions of the state. Stabenow leads among self-described Moderates by 33 points.
