Patrick Stays On Top in MA: In a Democratic Primary for Governor of Massachusetts today, 7/12/06, Deval Patrick defeats Chris Gabrieli and Tom Reilly, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 417 Likely Massachusetts Democratic Primary Voters, conducted exclusively for WBZ-TV Boston. Today, 10 weeks to the 9/19/06 Primary, Patrick gets 37%, Gabrieli 27%, Reilly 26%. Since an identical SurveyUSA WBZ-TV poll released 23 days ago, on 6/19/06, Patrick has gained 1 point. Gabrieli is up 4 points, from 23% in June to 27% today. Reilly is down 5 points, from 31% in June to 26% today. Gabrieli has caught up with Reilly for 2nd place because of shifts among voters under age 35. Among those voters, Gabrieli has gained 16 points while Reilly has lost 26 points.

Filtering: 2,200 Massachusetts adults were interviewed 7/9/06 - 7/11/06. Of them, 1,869 were registered voters. Of them, 659 were judged to be "likely voters". Of them, 417 were registered Democrats or Independents who chose a Democratic ballot. Crosstabs reflect Likely Democratic Primary voters.
