Kulongoski, Saxton to face off in November: 1 week to the 5/16/06 deadline for Oregon voters to mail in their Primary ballots for Governor, Democratic incumbent Ted Kulongoski and Republican challenger Ron Saxton appear headed for a General Election matchup on 11/7/06. In the Democratic Primary, Kulongoski gets 49% of the vote, to 25% for Jim Hill and 15% for Pete Sorenson. 10% are undecided. In the Republican Primary, Saxton leads with 40%. Kevin Mannix gets 27%. Jason Atkinson trails with 18%. 11% of Republicans would vote for one of the other five candidates. 4% are undecided. One out of three likely voters have already sent in their ballots; among these voters, Kulongoski and Saxton have larger leads. Kulongoski leads by 32 points among those who have already voted, and by 24 points overall. Saxton leads by 21 points among those who have already voted, and by 13 points overall.

Filtering: 2,400 Oregon adults were interviewed 5/6/06 - 5/8/06. Of them, 2,080 were registered voters. Of them, 440 were judged to be Likely Democratic Primary Voters. 418 were judged to be Likely Republican Primary Voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
