Analysis: In a Democratic Primary for Massachusetts Governor today, 3/7/06, Tom Reilly defeats Deval Patrick 47% to 37%, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 396 likely voters conducted exclusively for WBZ-TV. The Primary is in six months, on 9/19/06. Women prefer Reilly by 22 points, but men support Patrick by 3 points, a 25-point "gender gap". Reilly leads by 12 points among Democrats (who make up 72% of Democratic Primary voters in SurveyUSA's turnout model) and by 3 points among Independents (who make up 28% of likely Democratic Primary voters in SurveyUSA's turnout model). The most educated voters and highest-income voters prefer Patrick. |
Filtering: 2,500 Massachusetts adults were interviewed 3/5/06 - 3/6/06. Of them, 2,136 were registered voters. Of them, 717 were judged to be "likely voters". Of them, 396 were registered Democrats or Independents who chose a Democratic ballot. Crosstabs reflect Likely Democratic Primary voters. |
