Six Weeks From GOP Primary in KY3, Northup Lead Insurmountable: In a Republican Primary for United States House of Representatives from Kentucky's Third Congressional District today, 04/07/08, Anne Northup handily wins the nomination, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WHAS-TV Louisville. Northup, who previously represented the district, takes 79% of the vote today; developer Chris Thieneman, who has officially left the race, trails with 11%. 10% vote for other candidates or are undecided. The winner of the primary faces incumbent Representative John Yarmuth in November; Yarmuth beat Northup for the seat in 2006.

Filtering: 1,900 adults from Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District were interviewed 04/04/08 through 04/06/08. Of them, 1,761 were registered to vote; 549 were registered as Republicans, eligible to vote in the closed primary. Of them, 337 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 05/20/08 Republican Primary.
