Analysis: On the eve of the 5/2/06 Primary for Ohio Governor, Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell defeats Jim Petro for the Republican nomination, while on the Democratic side, Congressman Ted Strickland beats Bryan Flannery in a landslide, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WKYC-TV Cleveland, WCPO-TV Cincinnati, and WYTV-TV Youngstown. Blackwell gets 54%, up 8 points from a SurveyUSA poll 6 days ago. Petro gets 37%, up 3 points. 9% are undecided, down from 20% undecided last week. Blackwell leads 2:1 among conservatives. Petro leads 2:1 among liberals. Moderates are split. Strickland beats Flannery 64% to 20%. 16% are undecided. In the last week, Strickland has gained 3 points and Flannery has gained 2 points.

Filtering: 2,400 Ohio adults were interviewed 4/28/06 - 4/30/06. Of them, 2,072 were Registered Voters. Of them, 428 were judged to be Likely Republican Primary Voters. 486 were judged to be Likely Democratic Primary Voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
