Wilson Holds OH6 House Seat for Democrats: In an election in Ohio's 6th Congressional District today, 9/28/06, Democrat Charlie Wilson defeats Republican Chuck Blasdel, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WYTV-TV Youngstown. 39 days to the 11/7/06 election, Wilson gets 54%. Blasdel gets 41%. Wilson gets 88% of Democrat votes. Blasdel gets 82% of Republican votes. Independents favor the Republican Blasdel by 7 points, but this is not enough to overcome Democrats' 49% to 37% advantage among likely voters. Wilson's entire lead comes from women voters, who support him by 25 points. Men are evenly divided. Wilson won the 5/2/06 Democratic Primary as a write-in candidate after failing to get enough valid signatures to be on the Primary ballot. The OH6 House seat is open: incumbent Democratic Congressman Ted Strickland is running for Ohio Governor this year.
