NV Republican Gov Primary Tightens: In a Republican Primary for Governor of Nevada today, 7/17/06, Congressman Jim Gibbons wins comfortably, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted for KVBC-TV Las Vegas. With 1 month to go until the 8/15/06 Primary, Gibbons gets 44% of the vote, down 6 points from an identical poll 6/14/06. Nevada State Senator Bob Beers gets 23%, up 5 points. Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt gets 16%, up 1 point. Gibbons had led by 32, now leads by 21. Gibbons leads by 6 points in the Las Vegas area and by 36 points in the rest of Nevada. Incumbent Republican Governor Kenny Guinn is term-limited. President George W. Bush's approval rating among likely Republican Primary voters in Nevada is 71%.

Lead Changes Hands in NV Democratic Gov Primary: In a Democratic Primary for Governor of Nevada today, 7/17/06, Dina Titus has edged ahead of Jim Gibson, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted for KVBC-TV Las Vegas. Titus, a Nevada State Senator, gets 42%, up 8 points from last month. Gibson, who is the Mayor of the City of Henderson, gets 39%, down 4 points. Leola McConnell trails with 6%, up 1 point. 1 month from the 8/15/06 Primary, 13% are still undecided. President George W. Bush's approval rating among likely Democratic Primary voters in Nevada is 10%.

Filtering: 2,900 Nevada adults were interviewed 7/14/06 - 7/16/06. Of them, 2,205 were registered to vote, including 907 Republicans and 849 Democrats. 516 Republicans were judged to be "likely" voters. 411 Democrats were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
