Bode Supporters Tip Scales in Fallin's Favor: In a Republican runoff election today, 8/14/06, in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District, Mary Fallin defeats Mick Cornett, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Fallin gets 58%, Cornett 39%. In the 7/25/06 Primary, Fallin finished ahead of Cornett by 10 points but failed to get a majority of votes cast. 68% of those who voted for Denise Bode in the Primary turn their support to Fallin. Cornett leads among likely voters under 35; Fallin leads in all other age groups. The runoff is in 8 days, on 8/22/06; the winner will face Democrat David Hunter in November. Incumbent Republican Ernest Istook is leaving Congress to run for Governor this year. Among Likely Republican Runoff voters in OK CD #5, President Bush's approval rating is 84%.

Filtering: 2,000 adults from Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District were interviewed 8/11/06 - 8/13/06. Of them, 1,706 were registered to vote. Of them, 794 were registered Republicans. Of them, 442 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Republican Runoff Voters.
