Males Rally to Republican Kyl, Who Holds AZ Senate Seat for GOP: In an election for U.S. Senator from Arizona today, 11/3/06, 4 days to Election Day, incumbent Republican Jon Kyl defeats Democrat challenger Jim Pederson, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 560 Likely Voters conducted exclusively for KPNX-TV Phoenix. Kyl leads 53% to 40% at the finish line, largely on the backs of male voters, who have rallied to the Republican in the campaign's final weeks. Among males, Kyl had led by 9 points in a SurveyUSA KPNX-TV poll 2 weeks ago. Today he leads by 21. Voters age 50 to 64 have also rallied to the Republican. Pederson had led by 5 among this age cohort 2 weeks ago. Today he trails by 10. Most other subpopulations are stable. Kyl was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994. This will be his 3rd term.

Nothing Happening in AZ Governor Race; Democrat Napolitano Re-Elected Easily: In an election for Governor of Arizona today, 11/3/06, 4 days to Election Day, incumbent Democrat Janet Napolitano defeats Republican challenger Len Munsil, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KPNX-TV Phoenix. In 3 SurveyUSA tracking polls, Napolitano has led by 16, 19 and now, today, 19 again. Voters appear to have made up their minds on this contest months ago. Among many subpopulations there is little movement, and among other subpopulations there is absolutely no movement going back 10 weeks. Napolitano was first elected Governor in 2002. This will be her 2nd term.
