No Movement in Fierce Fight for WA8 House Seat: In an election for the U.S. House of Representatives today, 10/18/06, in Washington's 8th Congressional District, incumbent Republican Dave Reichert and Democratic challenger Darcy Burner remain nose-to-nose, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle. 20 days to the 11/7/06 general election, Reichert gets 50% of the vote, the same as in an identical SurveyUSA KING-TV poll released on 9/27/06. Burner gets 47%, down a statistically insignificant 1 point. Most Demographic groups are stable. But two are worth noting: Among Independent voters, Reichert had led by 5, now trails by 10, a 15-point swing. Among affluent voters, Burner had led by 4, now trails by 5, a 9-point swing. Reichert today leads by 18 points among men. Burner leads by 13 points among women. Reichert gets 93% of Republican votes. Burner gets 88% of Democrat votes. Independents break 5:4 for the Democrat. Reichert leads 32:1 among those who approve of President Bush's performance in office. Burner leads 7:2 among those who disapprove of Bush. President George W. Bush's approval rating among likely voters in Washington's 8th Congressional District is 37%. Reichert was first elected to Congress in 2004.

Filtering: 700 adults from Washington's 8th Congressional District were interviewed 10/15/2006 - 10/17/2006. Of them, 598 were registered to vote. Of them, 445 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
