Henry a Shoo-In for 2nd Term as Oklahoma Governor: In an election for Governor of Oklahoma today, 11/4/06, Incumbent Democrat Brad Henry sails to victory over Republican challenger Ernest Istook, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 488 likely voters conducted exclusively for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. In SurveyUSA's last 3 polls, Henry has polled 64%, 64%, and today 65%. Istook has polled 33%, 32% and today 29%. Voters appear to have made up their mind in this contest months ago. There is almost no volatility in any demographic subpopulation. Henry was first elected in 2002. Istook is leaving the U.S. Congress after 7 terms representing Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District.

Republican Hiett Now Within Striking Distance of Democrat Askins for OK Lt Gov: In an election today, 11/4/06, for Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma, Democrat Jari Askins clings to a small and decreasing lead over Republican Todd Hiett, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Askins's support today is down to 48%, where it was in SurveyUSA's first tracking poll for KFOR-TV in August. It had been as high as 52%. Hiett's support is up to 44%. Askins led by 10 points on 10/24, now leads by 4 points, 3 days to the vote. Askins leads in Eastern Oklahoma. Hiett leads, barely, in Western Oklahoma. The incumbent Lieutenant Governor is Republican Mary Fallin, who is now running to succeed Ernest Istook as Representative from Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District.
