Moderates, Males, Gun Owners Break Republican in King County Prosecuting Attorney Race: In a special election for King County WA Prosecuting Attorney today, 11/02/07, 4 days till the voting window ends, Republican Dan Satterberg edges Democrat Bill Sherman, 50% to 42%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV, the Belo-owned TV station in Seattle. In an identical SurveyUSA tracking poll released 10/17/07, before Early Voting had begun, Sherman led 49% to 43%. Since then, men, moderates and gun owners have broken in favor of the Republican. On 10/17, among men, Satterberg led by 11 points. Today he leads by 26 points. On 10/17, among Moderates, the two candidates were tied. Today, Satterberg leads by 15. Among gun owners, Satterberg had led by 9, now leads by 30. Among those who have been the victim of a violent crime, Sherman had led by 26, now leads by 8. Among voters age 50 to 64, Sherman had led by 13, now trails by 13. Satterberg gets 90% of the Republican vote today, almost identical to the 91% he got on 10/17. Sherman gets 69% of the Democrat vote, down from 79% on 10/17. 26% of King County Democrats today cross-over and vote Republican, up from 15% on 10/17. Independents still break 5:4 Republican, as they did on 10/17. One-third of SurveyUSA respondents have already voted in this election. Among those who have already voted, Satterberg leads by 18 points, with 58% of the vote. Among the two-thirds of respondents who have not yet voted, but who tell SurveyUSA they are certain to vote before Tuesday, Satterberg leads by 3.

Filtering: 1,000 King County adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 10/31/07 through 11/01/07. Of them, 884 were registered to vote. Of them, 210 had already voted in this contest, and an additional 414 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote on or before Election Day. Results here are based on interviews with the 624 voters, 34% of whom have already cast a ballot.
