No Movement in AR2; Democrat Snyder Cruising to Re-Elect: In an election in Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District today, 10/19/06, incumbent Democrat Vic Snyder defeats Republican challenger Andy Mayberry 57% to 41%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KTHV-TV Little Rock. Since an identical SurveyUSA KTHV-TV poll 4 weeks ago, Snyder has gained a statistically insignificant 1 point and Mayberry has lost statistically insignificant 1 point. Snyder had led by 14, now leads by 16. Snyder's lead comes from African-American voters, who support him 11:1 and who make up 17% of the likely voters in SurveyUSA's turnout model. The race is even among white voters. Snyder gets 89% of Democrat votes. Mayberry gets 87% of Republican votes. Independents pick Mayberry by 10 points, but this is not enough to overcome the 20-point advantage Democrats have in the composition of likely voters in AR2. Snyder was first elected to Congress in 1996. The election is on 11/7/06.

Filtering: 800 adults from Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District were interviewed 10/16/06 - 10/18/06. Of them, 680 were registered to vote. Of them, 404 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
