Republican Mayberry Closes-In on Incumbent Democrat Snyder in AR2 Fight: In an election in Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District today, 9/21/06, incumbent Democrat Vic Snyder defeats Republican challenger Andy Mayberry 56% to 42%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KTHV-TV Little Rock. But, there is movement in the contest. Since an identical SurveyUSA KTHV-TV poll 2 months ago, Mayberry has gained 4 points and Snyder has lost 2. Snyder had led by 20, now leads by 14. Among voters under age 35, Snyder had led by 37, now trails by 11. Among males, Snyder had led by 13, now leads by 6. But, moving in the other direction, among Independent voters, Snyder had led by 4, now leads by 28. Each candidate wins 10:1 among voters from his own party. Snyder was first elected to Congress in 1996. The election is on 11/7/06.

Filtering: 900 adults from Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District were interviewed 9/18/06 - 9/20/06. Of them, 800 were registered to vote. Of them, 468 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
