WA STATE PRE-CAUCUS POLLING COMPLETED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ROMNEY DROPS OUT

Among Registered Voters, McCain & Romney Tied in WA State, at Moment GOP Landscape Altered: SurveyUSA was in the middle of polling Washington state, in preparation for the 02/09/08 state caucuses, when news broke that Mitt Romney would withdraw from the contest. SurveyUSA suspended interviews and reports to you here where the GOP contest stood in WA at the moment Romney withdrew. SurveyUSA will re-commence interviewing, without Romney, and will endeavor to have new WA opinion poll results for you within 24 hours. The question: Do Romney's supporters move to Huckabee as a block? Move to McCain as a block? Or split? If 2 of 3 Romney backers vote for Huckabee, the contest, among registered voters, would be tied. If McCain gets more than 1 in 3 Romney voters, McCain will be ahead of Huckabee, among registered voters. Research conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle. Caveats: This is a smaller than usual sample of voters, because interviewing was suspended early. Data is reported to provide a historical footnote, to where Romney stood, at the moment he suspended his campaign. Overall numbers reflect registered voters and may or may not reflect actual caucus attendees.
