Here Are The Results of SurveyUSA Election Poll #9345

Analysis: In a Democratic Primary for California Governor today, 5/25/06, Phil Angelides leads Steve Westly by 12 points, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 428 likely voters conducted for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KGTV-TV San Diego, KPIX-TV San Francisco, and KXTV-TV Sacramento. 12 days to the 6/6/06 Primary, Angelides gets 44% of the vote, to 32% for Westly. 24% are undecided, or would vote for some other candidate. Since an identical SurveyUSA poll released 5/8/06, Angelides has gained 3 points and Westly has gained 1 point.

Filtering: 1,800 California adults were interviewed 5/22/06 - 5/24/06. Of them, 1,466 were registered voters. Of them, 428 were judged to be likely Democratic Primary voters. Crosstabs reflect likely Democratic Primary voters.

Competing Polling in California: Four California-based research companies are also polling on the Democratic Primary. In order of most recently released data: a poll by the Public Policy Institute of California of 435 likely voters, released 5/25/06, has Angelides up by 3 points over Westley, with 33% choosing other or undecided. A poll by Datamar, Inc. of 542 high-propensity registered voters, released 5/18/06, has Angelides up by 4 points over Westly, with 19% "don't know". A Los Angeles Times Poll of 471 likely voters, released 4/29/06, has Westley up by 13 over Angelides, with 45% undecided. A Field Poll released 4/15/06, of 303 likely voters, has Westley up by 11 points over Angelides, with 34 percent undecided. On 4/29/06, after interviewing was completed for the L.A. Times poll but before interviewing began for the Datamar poll, the Democratic Party of California formally endorsed Angelides.
