Analysis: In a Democratic Primary for California Governor today, 5/8/06, Phil Angelides leads Steve Westly by 10 points, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 417 likely voters conducted for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KGTV-TV San Diego, KPIX-TV San Francisco, and KXTV-TV Sacramento. 4 weeks to the 6/6/06 Primary, Angelides gets 41% of the vote, to 31% for Westly. 17% prefer some other candidate. 11% are undecided. Angelides does best among liberal voters and in the Bay Area. Westly leads Angelides among voters age 65 and over, and ties Angelides in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Filtering: 1,600 California adults were interviewed 5/5/06 - 5/7/06. Of them, 1,337 were registered voters. Of them, 417 were judged to be likely Democratic Primary voters. Crosstabs reflect likely Democratic Primary voters.
