OKLAHOMA GOP PRIMARY -- Huckabee and McCain Battle For KO in OK:
In a Republican Primary in Oklahoma today, 01/14/08, three weeks to the vote, Mike Huckabee and John McCain tie, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Fred Thompson, Rudolph Giuliani and Mitt Romney are tied for 3rd place, far back. Huckabee leads by 8 among Conservatives. McCain leads by 15 among Moderates. Huckabee leads by 13 among Republicans who attend church regularly. McCain leads by 15 points among those who attend church occasionally and by 20 points among those who almost never attend church. Huckabee leads by 10 in Eastern OK. McCain leads by 6 in Western OK. Huckabee leads by 10 among pro-life voters. Among pro-choice voters, McCain is 14 points ahead of Giuliani, who is tied with Huckabee for 2nd in this demographic group. Huckabee's support is young. McCain's support is old. Half of likely voters say they may change their mind before the primary. Among the rest, who say their mind is made up, Huckabee runs 11 points stronger than McCain.

2,000 state of Oklahoma adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 01/11/08 through 01/13/08. Of them, 1,714 were registered to vote. Of them, 501 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 02/05/08 Republican Primary. Results from Michigan on 01/15/08, South Carolina on 01/19/08, and Florida on 01/29/08 can and will color results of Oklahoma and the other states that vote on so-called "Super Tuesday," 02/05/08. Expect buffeting. |
