Republican Kline Back in Command in MN2: In an election for U.S. House of Representatives today, 11/1/06, in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, incumbent Republican John Kline defeats DFL challenger Coleen Rowley, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 597 Likely Voters conducted exclusively for KSTP-TV Minneapolis. Kline gets 54% today, up 4 points from an identical SurveyUSA poll released 10/16/06. Rowley gets 36% today, down 6 from 10/16. Kline led by 20 points on 9/27, before Mark Foley, led by 8 points on 10/16, during news coverage of Mark Foley, and now leads by 18 points, after Mark Foley. Among Likely Voters, the number of self-identified Republicans had dipped to 39% on 10/16, but is back to 43% today. The number of self-identified Democrats had increased to 37% on 10/16, but is back to 33% today. Kline was first elected to Congress in 2002.

Filtering: 900 adults from Minnesota's 2nd Congressional district were interviewed 10/29/06 through 10/31/06. Of them, 814 were registered to vote. Of them, 597 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters. |
