Analysis: In a general election today, 7/17/06, in Ohio's 13th Congressional District, Democrat Betty Sue Sutton defeats Republican Craig Foltin 48% to 30%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WKYC-TV Cleveland. Independent Traci Kennedy gets 6%. Sutton, who won a closely contested Democratic Primary 5/2/06 with 31% of the vote, now gets 74% of Democrat votes. Foltin, the mayor of Lorain, gets 70% of Republican votes. Independents favor Sutton by 4 points. Sutton wins by 33 points in households making less than $40,000 per year. In households making more than $80,000 per year, the contest is a tie. Foltin runs stronger among younger voters. Sutton runs stronger among older voters. The incumbent Democratic Congressman, Sherrod Brown, is retiring from the House to run for the U.S. Senate this year. The general election is on 11/7/06. President George W. Bush's approval rating among likely voters in Ohio's 13th Congressional District is 28%.

Filtering: 700 adults from Ohio's 13th Congressional District were interviewed 7/14/06 - 7/16/06. Of them, 657 were registered to vote. Of them, 404 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
