Fenty Wins Going Away in D.C. Mayoral Primary: On the eve of the 9/12/06 Democratic Primary for Mayor of Washington, D.C., Adrian Fenty defeats Linda Cropp decisively, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WUSA-TV Washington, D.C. 12 hours till polls open, it's Fenty 52%, Cropp 28%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA WUSA-TV poll 2 weeks ago, Fenty has gained 7 points and Cropp has lost 7 points. Fenty had led by 10, now leads by 24. Fenty leads by 22 points among African-American voters and by 28 points among White voters. Cropp does best among voters over age 65, where she trails by only 10 points. None of the other five candidates gets more than 9% of the vote. The winner of the Democratic Primary will be heavily favored in the 11/7/06 general election.

Filtering: 1,400 District of Columbia adults were interviewed 9/8/06 - 9/10/06. Of them, 1,097 were registered to vote. Of them, 873 were Democrats. Of them, 590 were judged to be "likely voters." Crosstabs reflect Likely Democratic Primary Voters.
