Democrat Busansky Closing, Closing, Closing... But GOP Bilirakis Will Hold FL9 for GOP: In an election for U.S. House of Representatives in Florida's 9th Congressional District today, 11/4/06, Republican Gus Bilirakis holds on to defeat Democrat Phyllis Busansky, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WFLA-TV Tampa. Busansky has momentum. She trailed by 29 points in September, 21 points in October, and by 12 points today. But in a District in which Republicans outnumber Democrats, and with 87% of Republicans voting Republican, it does not appear, at the finish line, that Busansky has enough. Bilirakis is the son of the Republican incumbent, Michael Bilirakis, who is retiring after 24 years in the House.

Filtering: 800 registered voters from Florida's 9th Congressional District, chosen using Registration Based Sample from Aristotle International, were interviewed 11/1/06 through 11/3/06. Of them, 568 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
