Minnesota Governor: In a hypothetical election for Minnesota Governor today, 7/24/06, Republican Tim Pawlenty defeats DFL candidate Mike Hatch by 50% to 36%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP-TV Minneapolis/St. Paul, KAAL-TV Austin, and WDIO-TV Duluth. Independence Party candidate Peter Hutchinson gets 8%, not enough to sway the outcome. Incumbent Pawlenty wins all age groups and 80% of conservative voters. Hatch wins among Democrats, Moderates, and Liberals. The election is in 15 weeks, on 11/7/06. Pawlenty and Hatch will face each other if they win their Primaries on 9/12/06.

Minnesota Senator: In a hypothetical election for United States Senator today, DFL candidate Amy Klobuchar defeats Republican Mark Kennedy 47% to 42%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP-TV Minneapolis/St. Paul, KAAL-TV Austin, and WDIO-TV Duluth. Independence party candidate Robert Fitzgerald gets 8% of the vote, which could turn him into a spoiler in the election. Kennedy leads by 15% among men. Klobuchar leads by 23% among women, a 38-point Gender Gap. The election is in 15 weeks, on 11/07/06. Kennedy and Klobuchar will face each other if they win their Primaries on 9/12/06.
