Analysis: In a Republican Primary for Arizona Governor today, 4/11/06, Don Goldwater overwhelms five challengers, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 422 likely voters conducted exclusively for KPNX-TV Phoenix. Today, five months to the 9/12/06 Primary, Goldwater gets 39% of the vote. Trailing are Len Munsil with 10%, Mike Harris with 9%, Jan Florez with 5%, Teresa Ottesen with 4%, and Gary Tupper with 3%. 31% are undecided. Munsil gets no more than 13% among any group, but Harris gets 27% among voters age 18-34, finishing 1 point ahead of Goldwater in that group. Goldwater is the nephew of former Arizona Senator and Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater. The winner of the Republican Primary will advance to face incumbent Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano in a general election in November. Napolitano is unopposed in the Democratic Primary.

Filtering: 2,000 Arizona adults were interviewed 4/8/06 - 4/10/06. Of them, 1,574 were registered voters. Of them, 624 were Republicans. Of them, 422 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Republican Primary voters.
