Analysis: In a Republican Primary in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District held today, 7/24/06, on the eve of the primary, three Republicans battle for two run-off spots, with any outcome possible, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin is in the best position to advance, leading all challengers with 30% of the vote. Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett gets 25%. Denise Bode gets 24%, statistically tied for 2nd place. All 3 candidates are positioned to advance a runoff election on 8/22/06. Incumbent Republican Ernest Istook is leaving Congress to run for Governor this year. |
Filtering: 2,000 Oklahoma adults were interviewed 7/20/06 - 7/23/06. Of them, 1,732 were registered to vote. Of them, 785 were Republicans. Of them, 448 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Republican Primary Voters. |
