Analysis: In an election for Governor of New Jersey today, 10/11/05, 4 weeks to the 11/8/05 election, Democrat Jon Corzine defeats Republican Doug Forrester 49% to 41%, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 537 likely New Jersey voters, conducted for WCAU-TV in Philadelphia and WABC-TV in New York City. 10% are undecided or would vote for someone else. 79% of Democrats vote Corzine. 87% of Republicans vote Forrester. Independents break 5:3 for Corzine. Corzine's support is strongest among younger voters and minorities. Forrester is statistically even among senior citizens and ahead by 3 points among White voters. Corzine is up 35 points among pro-choice voters; Forrester is up 30 points among pro-life voters. Contest is tied in Central NJ; Corzine leads in Northern and Southern New Jersey.

Filtering: 1,400 New Jersey adults were interviewed 10/8/05 - 10/10/05. Of them, 1,161 were registered voters. Of them, 537 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect "likely" voters.
