Republican Schwarzenegger & Democrat Feinstein Sail To Easy Re-Election in CA: Incumbent Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Incumbent Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein are re-elected comfortably in California, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll, released 11/5/06, exclusively for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KXTV-TV Sacramento and KGTV-TV San Diego. In 4 SurveyUSA tracking polls, Schwarzenegger never polled worse than 52%, never better than 55%. Democratic opponent Phil Angelides polled at 38% three times and 37% once. In the U.S. Senate race, support for Feinstein is increasing at the finish line. She ends at 60%, up from 55% in September. Republican challenger Dick Mountjoy ends at 31%, down from 35% in September.

'Yes' Still Ahead of 'No' on Proposition 86, Barely: In a referendum today on California Proposition 86, about cigarettes, 'Yes' is at 52%, 'No' is at 47%, largely unchanged from an identical SurveyUSA poll released 10/26. Then, the measure passed by 6 points, today by 5. The separation between Yes and No is close enough to the poll's 4.3 percent margin of sampling error that an upset defeat is possible. But in 4 SurveyUSA tracks going back to August, the measure has never trailed. Men support. Women split. Voters under age 65 support. Voters age 65+ oppose. Democrats support. Republicans oppose. Greater Los Angeles and San Francisco support. The rest of the state opposes. The more you earn, the more you favor Prop 86.
