Incumbent Democrat Spratt Sails to Easy Victory in SC5: In an election for the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina's 5th Congressional District today, 11/1/06, incumbent Democrat John Spratt defeats Republican challenger Ralph Norman, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 530 Likely Voters conducted exclusively for WLTX-TV Columbia. Spratt gets 58% today, up from 56% in an identical SurveyUSA poll released 10/12/06. Norman gets 39% today, down from 42% on 10/12. Spratt was first elected to Congress in 1982. In 2004, Spratt received 63% of the vote.

Filtering: 1,000 adults from South Carolina's 5th Congressional District were interviewed 10/29/06 through 10/31/06. Of them, 843 were registered to vote. Of them, 530 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
