I-1000 in Washington State State Still Ahead, But Support is Down, Opposition is Up: In a vote today, 10/14/08, on Washington State Ballot Initiative 1000, which concerns allowing certain terminally ill adults to obtain lethal prescriptions, 49% are certain to vote "Yes," 32% are certain to vote "No," according to this latest exclusive KING-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released three weeks ago, "No" is up 6 points; "Yes" is down 5. This is the first SurveyUSA poll when "Yes" is below 50% among those certain how they will vote, and the first time those certain to vote "No" is above 30%.

There is movement towards "No" among women, where 1000 had led by 17, now 10. Among voters age 18 to 49, support is halved, from 30 points three weeks ago to 17 points today. Among voters age 50+, support has fallen from 28 points to 17. Support for the measure still outweighs opposition in all regions, among all demographic groups, and among most other voting blocs. Among Republicans, conservatives, those who attend religious services regularly, and those who describe themselves as pro-life, opposition outweighs support.
