In Missouri, Voter Concern About Possible Super Committee Cuts to Social Security and Medicare May Affect Re-Election of Senator McCaskill:
SurveyUSA interviewed 630 registered voters in the state of Missouri and asked about a number of different ways in which the Super Committee of the U.S. Congress might reduce the national debt.
* 63% of voters say that if U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) backs a plan to cut Social Security benefits, they would be more likely to vote against her.
By contrast: Cell-phone respondents and home-phone respondents included in this research. SurveyUSA interviewed 700 state of Missouri adults on 11/17/11. Of them, 630 were registered to vote and were asked the substantive questions. This research was conducted multi-mode. Respondents who use a home telephone (78% of registered voters) were interviewed on a home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents who do not use a home telephone (22% of registered voters) were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, laptop, tablet, or other electronic device.
