| Knox Now Atop Fattah, Barely, in Philly Democratic Mayor Primary: In a Democratic Primary for Mayor of Philadelphia today, 3/13/07, 2 months to the vote, former Deputy Mayor Tom Knox is bunched with Chaka Fattah for the lead, a slight edge today to Knox, according to a SurveyUSA poll of likely city of Philadelphia Democratic Primary voters, conducted exclusively for WCAU-TV NBC10. Today, it's Knox 25%, Fattah 22%, Bob Brady 17%, Dwight Evans 13%, Michael Nutter 11%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA tracking poll 1 month ago, Fattah has lost 10 points, Knox has gained 3 points. Fattah, a member of the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania' 2nd Congressional District, had led by 10, now trails by 3, a 13-point swing. Brady, a member of the US House of Representatives from PA's 1st Congressional District, is flat. Evans and Nutter are up slightly. Knox's support among voters age 50 to 64 has increased from 18% a month ago to 30% today. Among likely African American Primary voters, Fattah is at 37% today, down from 52%. Blacks make up 44% of the electorate in SurveyUSA's turnout model. Crime is overwhelmingly the most important issue to likely voters. Among those who identify crime as the largest concern, Knox is up 5 points to 27%, Fattah is down 11 to 21%. The winner of the 5/15/07 Democratic Primary advances to a general election. In the city of Philadelphia, Democrats outnumber Republicans 5:1. |
| Filtering: 1,000 city of Philadelphia adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 3/9/07 through 3/12/07. Of them, 926 were registered to vote. Of them, 624 were Democrats. Of them, 442 were identified by SurveyUSA as likely to vote in the Democratic Primary and are included in this survey. |
