| In San Diego Mayor Election, Movement Among Males and Seniors to Filner, Who Now Has Slight Advantage over DeMaio:
In an election for San Diego mayor today, 08/24/12, 6 weeks until early voting begins, Congressman Bob Filner edges City Council Member Carl DeMaio 47% to 41%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KGTV-TV, 10News. Compared to a SurveyUSA poll 2 months ago, Filner is up 1 point; DeMaio is down 2. Filner had led by 3, now leads by 6.
* DeMaio had led by 7 among men, now trails by 3, a 10-point swing toward Filner. While the race for mayor is non-partisan, DeMaio, a Republican, leads by 30 points among Republicans. Filner, a Democrat, leads by 36 points among Democrats. Cell phone respondents and home phone respondents included in this survey: SurveyUSA interviewed 850 San Diego adults 08/20/12 through 08/23/12. Of the adults, 725 were registered to vote. Of the registered, 553 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 11/06/12 general election. Incumbent Mayor Jerry Sanders is term-limited. This survey was conducted using blended sample, mixed-mode. Respondents reachable on a home telephone (78% of adults, 81% of likely voters) were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer.
