CA Democrat Primary Eve - Angelides Poised to Capture Nomination: In a Democratic Primary for California Governor today, 6/5/06, Primary Eve, Phil Angelides defeats Steve Westly 44% to 36%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KXTV-TV Sacramento and KGTV-TV San Diego. At the wire, Angelides is up by 7 points among whites, up by 20 points among Hispanics. 12 hours till polls open, 19% of likely voters remain undecided; volatility in day-to-day numbers is apparent. Angelides leads by 7 points among voters age 65+; one month ago, Westly had led by 8 among voters age 65+. Westly runs strongest among voters age 35 to 49, but even among this group, he trails Angelides by 3 points. Westly is up by 2 in the Central Valley. Angelides is up by 17 in Greater Los Angeles, up by 4 in the Inland Empire, and up by 6 in the Bay Area.
 
Filtering: 4,800 California adults were interviewed 5/30/06 to 6/4/06. Of them, 3,973 were registered voters. Of them, 1,148 were judged to be likely Democratic Primary voters. Competing Polls in CA Democratic Primary: Four California-based research companies are also polling on the Democratic Primary. In order of most recently released data: A poll by Datamar, Inc. of 690 high-propensity registered voters, released today, 6/5/06, has Angelides up by 2 points over Westly, with 16% "don't know". A Field Poll released 6/2/06, of 501 likely voters, has Westly up by 1 point over Angelides, with 26 percent undecided. A Los Angeles Times Poll of 424 likely voters, released 5/26/06, has Angelides up by 3 over Westly, with 28% undecided. A poll by the Public Policy Institute of California of 435 likely voters, released 5/25/06, has Angelides up by 3 points over Westly, with 33% choosing other or undecided.
