Heading In To Final Weekend Before San Diego County Primary, Summer Stephan Has Edge In District Attorney Contest,
Bill Gore Favored To Win Sheriff Race, Ernie Dronenburg Jr. Backed for County Clerk, But Undecided Voters Add Suspense:

The front-runners in 3 high-profile contests in San Diego County have solidified their leads, according to SurveyUSA's latest tracking poll, conducted for KGTV-TV and the Union Tribune newspaper.

* 2 weeks ago, Summer Stephan led Genevieve Jones-Wright by 13 points in the contest for District Attorney; today, Stephan leads Jones-Wright by 20 points. Undecided voters --- 2 weeks ago at 43%, today at 30% --- add drama to the race. Jones-Wright's support is young, Democratic and liberal. Stephan's support is older, Republican and conservative.

* 2 weeks ago, Bill Gore led Dave Meyers by 10 points in the race for County Sheriff; today, Gore leads by 12 points. Then, 33% of likely voters were undecided; today, 24%. Meyers' support is young, liberal, and middle-income. Gore leads among Republicans, independents, conservatives, and moderates.

* 2 weeks ago, Ernest J "Ernie" Dronenburg Jr. led Matt Strabone by a nominal 3 percentage points in the contest for County Clerk/Assessor/Recorder, but today there is material movement to the incumbent, and Dronenburg leads Strabone by 19 points, with 46% of likely voters undecided. Dronenburg leads 5:1 among seniors, 5:2 among high school educated voters, and 5:3 among Republicans.

Among respondents who tell SurveyUSA they have already returned a ballot, Stephan leads by 25 points, Gore leads by 28 points, and Dronenburg leads by 24 points.

About: SurveyUSA interviewed 1,100 adults from San Diego County 05/29/18 through 05/30/18. Of the adults, 920 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 570 were identified by SurveyUSA as being likely to vote on or before the 06/05/18 primary deadline, including 29% who have already returned a ballot. This research was conducted online.
