| Fresno Supports Laws to Limit Ammo Sales and Clip Capacity, Wants Stricter Enforcement of Existing Gun Laws:
Fresno area adults are of mixed minds on the issue of gun control, following last week's shooting in Aurora CO. Fresno favors new laws that would limit the amount of ammunition that a person can buy at one time. Fresno favors a new law that would limit the number of bullets that can be loaded into a magazine at any one time. But asked if gun violence would be more reduced by the passing of new laws or by better enforcement of existing laws, Fresno by nearly 2:1 favors the stricter enforcement of existing laws. Asked whether it is more important to protect the right of Americans to own guns or to control gun ownership, Freno is split. The survey, conducted for KFSN-TV by SurveyUSA, also finds Fresno area residents in agreement with the decision by Penn State University to remove a statue of football coach Joe Paterno from the Penn State Campus. But, residents are divided on sanctions imposed by the NCAA: 43% say the NCAA penalties are "just right," but 31% say the sanctions are too lenient, and 21% say the sanctions are too harsh. |
