Analysis: In an election for Mayor of Detroit today, 9/13/05, 8 weeks to the 11/8/05 vote, challenger Freman Hendrix ousts incumbent Kwame Kilpatrick, 55% to 40%, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 499 likely city of Detroit voters, conducted exclusively for WDIV-TV, Channel 4. 6% are undecided. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA WDIV-TV poll 5 weeks ago, Hendrix has gained a statistically insignificant 1 point and Kilpatrick is unchanged. In last month's 8/2/05 Primary, Hendrix defeated Kilpatrick by 10 points. Today, Hendrix leads by 75 points among Detroit's few white voters. Hendrix leads by 4 points among the city's black voters. Kilpatrick ties Hendrix among liberal voters, but loses all gender and age groups.
Filtering: 1,200 City of Detroit adults were interviewed 9/10/05 - 9/12/05. Of them, 1,112 were registered voters. Of them, 499 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect "likely" voters.
