No Change in WA 2nd CD Contest; Larsen Remains Well In Front: Four term incumbent Democrat Rick Larsen defeats Republican retired sheriff Rick Bart 58% to 37% in an election in Washington state's 2nd congressional district held today, 07/30/08, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 6 weeks ago, little has changed: Larsen is up two points and Bart is down one. 1 in 5 Republicans today cross over to vote for Democrat Larsen; 5% of Democrats vote for Republican Bart. Independents favor Larsen 2:1. Larsen takes a majority of the votes among young and old, male and female, white and minority.
 
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 900 Washington adults 07/27/08 through 07/29/08; of the adults, 765 identified themselves as being registered to vote in Washington state. Of the registered voters, 507 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the November general election. 37 of Washington's 39 counties vote exclusively by mail; ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day, 11/04/08.
