| Oklahoma GOP Primary Unsettled, Likely To Be Buffeted Further By Florida Results: In a Republican Primary in Oklahoma today, 01/28/08, 8 days to the vote, John McCain wins with 37% of the vote, 9 points ahead of Mike Huckabee, with 28%, according to this latest SurveyUSA tracking poll conducted exclusively for KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City. Huckabee, in turn, is 9 points ahead of third-place finisher Mitt Romney, who takes 19% of the vote. Rudolph Giuliani and Ron Paul tie for last, at 6%. In the two weeks since an identical SurveyUSA poll, McCain is up 8; Huckabee is down 3; Romney is up 11. Romney has tripled his support among the two-thirds of Oklahoma Republican likely primary voters who identify themselves as conservatives. Huckabee leads by 12 among the youngest voters; McCain leads by 18 among the oldest. McCain leads by 3 among conservatives and by 24 among moderates. By nearly 2:1, Oklahoma likely Republican primary voters say the economy is the issue the the next president should focus on ahead of all overs; among the voters choosing the economy as the most important issue, McCain holds a 15 point lead over Huckabee. Among those who say immigration is the most important issue, Huckabee leads Romney by 3, and leads McCain by 15. |
| Filtering: 2,000 state of Oklahoma adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 01/27/08. Of them, 1,752 were registered to vote. Of them, 502 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the Republican Primary on 02/05/08. Results from Florida on 01/29/08 can and will color what happens in Oklahoma and the other states voting on February 5. Expect further buffeting in future SurveyUSA tracking polls. |
