Udall Remains Well Positioned to Pick-Up US Senate Seat for Democrats in New Mexico: In an election for United States Senator from New Mexico today, 10/01/08, Democrat Tom Udall defeats Republican Steve Pearce 58% to 39%, according to this latest exclusive KOB-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released two weeks ago, Udall is up two points; Pearce is down two points.

Udall, who represents New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House, takes a majority of votes among men and women, young and old, white and minority. Pearce, who represents New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District, keeps 76% of Republican votes. Udall keeps 84% of Democratic votes; independents favor Udall by 26 points. The two candidates are competing for Republican Pete Domenici's open seat. Domenici is retiring.

 
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 900 New Mexico adults 09/29/08 and 09/30/08. Of them, 795 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 698 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election.
