| Markell Holds 2:1 Lead In Race for Delaware Governor:
In an election today for Governor of Delaware, Democrat Jack Markell defeats Republican Bill Lee 64% to 29%, according to this latest WCAU-TV news poll conducted by SurveyUSA. 5% of likely voters pick Independent Party of Delaware candidate Mike Protack or another candidate; 3% are undecided.
Markell, currently State Treasurer, takes no less than 58% of the vote among all groups -- men and women, young and old, white and black. 1 in 3 Republicans cross over to vote for Markell. Lee, a former Delaware Superior Court judge and 2004 Republican candidate for governor, holds 59% of the Republican base, takes 64% of conservative votes, leads by 5 points among those describing themselves as pro-life. Markell leads in all other groups. Incumbent Democratic governor Ruth Ann Minner, first elected in 2000, is term-limited. |
