Eleven Weeks From Missouri GOP Governor Primary, Few Focused on Contest: In a Republican primary for Missouri governor held today, 05/20/08, "Undecided" outpolls each of the candidates on the ballot, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KCTV in Kansas City and KSDK-TV in St. Louis. Kenny Hulshof, who represents Missouri's 9th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives, finishes first among the named candidates with 29% of the vote; State Treasurer Sarah Steelman is 4 points back, within the poll's margin of sampling error, at 25%. Scott Long, a teacher from southern Missouri, takes 10%; Jen Sievers, a candidate in the past two gubernatorial elections, takes 4%. 32% of likely voters are undecided. Among men, Hulshof leads Steelman by 11 points; among women, Steelman leads Hulshof by 4 -- a 15 point gender gap. Among those who consider themselves Republicans, Hulshof leads by 10; Steelman leads by 17 among Independents. Missouri does not register voters by party affiliation, and the primary is open. In Northern Missouri, Hulshof leads Steelman by 19; in greater St. Louis, by 29. In Southwestern Missouri, Steelman leads Hulshof by 19; in Southeastern Missouri, by 12. In greater Kansas City, Steelman and Long each lead Hulshof by 16.
 
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 2,050 Missouri adults 05/16/08 through 05/18/08. Of the adults, 1,857 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 400 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 08/05/08 Republican Primary for Governor.
