Analysis: In a hypothetical election for United States Senator today, 7/17/06, Arizona voters re-elect Republican Jon Kyl by 52% to 40% over Democrat Jim Pederson, according to a SurveyUSA poll of 531 Arizona Registered Voters conducted exclusively for KPNX-TV Phoenix. The election is in 16 weeks, on 11/7/06. SurveyUSA has conducted the identical poll 3 times for KPNX. In February, Kyle led by 24 points. In May, Kyl led by 15 points. Today, Kyl leads by 12 points. Today, Kyl leads by 21 points among men and by 4 points among women. Kyl gets 84% of Republican votes. Pederson gets 74% of Democratic votes. Independents prefer Kyl by 10 points. Pederson will be Kyl's opponent if he wins the Arizona Democratic Primary on 9/12/06.
