Analysis: In an election held in Virginia today, 6/28/06, incumbent Republican Senator George Allen defeats Democratic challenger Jim Webb 3:2, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WDBJ-TV Roanoke and WUSA-TV Washington D.C. 19 weeks from the 11/7/06 election, Allen gets 56% of the vote to 37% for Webb. Independent Green candidate Gail Parker gets 2%. Allen gets 90% of Republican votes. Webb gets 79% of Democratic votes. Independents favor Allen by 15 points. Webb wins among the most educated voters and ties Allen in Northeast Virginia. Likely voters who approve of President Bush's job performance support Allen 32:1. Likely voters who disapprove of Bush's performance support Webb 3:1.
 
Filtering: 1,200 Virginia adults were interviewed 6/25/06 - 6/27/06. Of them, 984 were registered to vote. Of them, 533 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
