In Fresno County District Attorney Contest, Challenger Smittcamp Has Advantage over Incumbent Egan:

In the election for Fresno CA County District Attorney, challenger Lisa Sondergaard Smittcamp is atop incumbent Elizabeth Egan, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KFSN-TV. 1 month till votes are counted, it's Smittcamp 46%, Egan 33%. The poll findings are not encouraging for the sitting DA. Egan trails among men and women, young and old, whites and minorities, Republican and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, rich and poor, and among more educated voters and and less educated voters.

When SurveyUSA asked Fresno County likely voters, "Regardless of who you may vote for, which candidate is tougher on crime," the results mirror the vote preference: 43% say Smittcamp is tougher on crime, 33% say Egan.

Cell-phone respondents and home-phone respondents included in this research. SurveyUSA interviewed 1,125 Fresno County adults 04/30/14 through 05/06/14. Of the adults, 910 were registered to vote. Of the registered, 504 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 06/03/14 election. This research was conducted using blended sample, mixed mode. Respondents reachable on a home telephone were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents not reachable on a home telephone were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, tablet or other electronic device.
