| California Divided on Whether A State Should Be Able to Pass Its Own Immigration Law; Residents Agree with Some of Supreme Court Arizona Ruling, Disagree with Other Parts: By a 15-point margin, Californians agree with the portion of today's 06/25/12 Supreme Court of the United States ruling that allows Arizona police officers to continue to ask to see proof of citizenship when they stop a person, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KGTV-TV San Diego, and KFSN-TV Fresno. Californians also agree, by a 16-point margin, with the portion of the ruling that struck down the portion of Arizona's law which made it a state requirement for illegal immigrants to register with the federal government. California residents are more evenly divided on the 2 other portions of the Arizona law that the Supreme Court ruled are unconstitutional. |
