New Mexico Voters Give Governor Susana Martinez 66% Job Approval; State Says Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Banned:

New Mexican voters overwhelmingly support a law that would require voters in the state to show a government-issued photo ID to be able to vote, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KOB-TV in Albuquerque.

Voters by 51% to 44% say same-sex marriages should be banned in New Mexico.

Governor Susana Martinez has an extraordinarily high "Plus 37" Net Job Approval rating. 66% of voters approve of the job the governor is doing, compared to 29% who disapprove. When you subtract the disapprovals from the approvals, you get Plus 37, a margin that most other U.S. governors can only dream of.

Cell-phone and home-phone respondents included in this research: SurveyUSA interviewed 610 state of NM adults 05/14/13 through 05/16/13 exclusively for KOB-TV Albuquerque, using blended sample, mixed-mode. Of the adults, 534 were registered voters; of the registered voters, 501 identified themselves as typically voting in statewide elections and were asked the state government questions which follow. Respondents reachable on a home telephone (80% of adults) were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents unreachable on a home telephone (20% of adults) were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, laptop, tablet, or other electronic device.
